Practice Merger

Dr Dinah Roy wrote to all her patients to update regarding her recent period of absence and future plans for the surgery:

"Because of personal illness I have been away from work since 12th April 2019.  I know many patients have asked when I will be back as they are still waiting to see me.

Following a great deal of thought I have decided not to return to work in the practice, but to retire at the end of July.  This has been a very big decision for me as I originally took over the practice on 30th May 1994, just over 25 years ago.

I have been very closely involved with many of you and your families over the years and I hope I have been able to support you at times when you have needed care from your family GP and practice.  I have met some wonderful and special people, and shared part of your journey through life.  This has been an enormous privilege and I thank you for your support over the years.

I must also thank my practice team who have been very supportive to me, particularly at this time, and who are exceptionally committed and hard working.

I have entered into an agreement with St Andrew's Medical Practice, Spennymoor to take over the running of Oxford Road Medical Centre from 1st August 2019.  I believe that the docotrs and staff of St Andrews will provide excellent care and I am happy and relieved that they can take the reins of my practice and continue our good work.

You need to do nothing as your GP registration will stay with the Oxford Road Medical Centre practice and you will not need to re-register as a patient.

I shall not return as your GP, howevger, I will be available in the surgery on 30th and 31st July as I do hope to be able to say my 'goodbyes' personally to any of you who would like to meet with me.  Please contact practice staff regarding this and they will be pleased to keep you up to date with the arrangements.

With warmest wishes for you and your family's future good health and wellbeing.

Yours sincerely

Dr Dinah Roy"
